Structural Steelwork

Industrial access platforms, staircases, walkways, handrails and structural steelwork — fabricated to specification and installed on site.

JMT Engineering design and fabricate structural steelwork for industrial and commercial applications. Our work includes access platforms, mezzanine floors, staircases, walkways, handrails, pipe bridges, equipment support frames and general structural steelwork. We hold BS EN 1090-1 EXC2 certification, which covers the manufacture of structural steel components and assemblies. Steelwork is fabricated in our workshop and installed by our own teams, or supplied for installation by others.

What we offer

  • Industrial access platforms and mezzanine floors
  • Staircases, walkways and handrails
  • Pipe bridges and equipment support frames
  • Structural steelwork for industrial buildings
  • Fabricated to customer drawings or specification
  • Workshop manufacture and site installation
  • BS EN 1090-1 EXC2 certified
  • Hot-dip galvanising and painting arranged

Access Platforms & Walkways

We fabricate access platforms, walkways and mezzanine floors for industrial plant, machinery and equipment. Platforms are designed to suit the specific access requirements and load ratings, with open-mesh flooring, chequer plate or grating as specified. Handrails and kick plates are included as standard where required by regulations.

Staircases & Ladders

Our workshop produces industrial staircases, ship stairs and fixed access ladders in mild steel or stainless steel. Staircases are fabricated to the required rise, going and width, with handrails and balustrades to suit. We can work from architectural or structural drawings, or produce fabrication drawings from site measurements.

Support Frames & Steelwork

We fabricate equipment support frames, pipe supports, tank support stands, skid bases and general structural steelwork for industrial applications. Frames are designed to suit the equipment loads and site conditions. We work alongside mechanical engineers, process engineers and plant operators to ensure the steelwork integrates with the wider installation.

Surface Treatment & Delivery

Steelwork can be supplied in primer, painted to specification, or hot-dip galvanised for external or corrosive environments. We arrange surface treatment through approved subcontractors and manage the process as part of the supply. Steelwork is delivered to site throughout Scotland, Cumbria and the wider UK, and installed by our own teams where required.
